Painted reverse carved intaglio pendant of a fox

A beautifully painted reverse carved intaglio brooch/pendant
The cabochon-cut rock crystal of heart-shape, painted to depict a fox’s mask, with mother-of-pearl panel to the back. The fox's mask is in very deep relief giving fantastic detail on the fox's teeth, eyes, tonal colours of fur, whiskers etc. The mother-of-pearl has a lovely bright lustre and the rock crystal is in good condition with some very slight scratches consistent with age. The brooch/pendant has a fixed brooch pin and a bale. The white mount is not marked. With later rope link silver chain.
Circa 1910. 

The length of the pendant including bale 3.8cm, width 3cm. The later chain is 64cm.
