A water jug by Jason Shackleton
Hand decorated with two large billed birds and bunches of grapes and with a heart to the front framing the date 1981. The lower part of the handle is also dated 1981 and signed with a reverse J for Jason Shackleton.
Shackelton is a local Dumfriesshire potter, he trained with Bernie Forrester and Colin Kellam at Dartington, Devon. He established his business in Scotland in the 1970’s and produces decorated tin glaze majolica and slipware using a variety of techniques including brush painted tin glaze, slip trailing and sgraffito.
Condition: The piece is in excellent condition and the maker’s mark is repeated on the base.
