A first world war Royal Navy bicorn hat
black felt and lace outer, decorated with gold wire, leather sweatband, red silk lined, contained within original tin box with name plate for ‘Sydney Searle RNVR’, the hat presented in beautiful condition, the tin with luggage labels is scuffed.

Lt. Cdr. Sydney Searle RNVR, a Scottish officer on the staff of Commander in Chief Grand Fleet during WW1.  The box contains an invitation for Major General Victor Fortune to Holyrood Palace in Edinburgh for Tuesday 23rd May 1939, Fortune was a decorated general of WWII of the 51st Highland Infantry Division and a serving officer with the Blackwatch in WWI.
