Regency rosewood X-frame stool - Thomas Hope
Regency rosewood X-frame stool, after a design by Thomas Hope. The Grecian stool is a classic design used in the early 19th Century and appears in Hope's pattern books, upholstered in geometric needlepoint. 
English, Circa 1820

Condition: The rosewood frame has survived well, it is traditionally brittle but here it is in lovely original condition with no previous breaks or damage.  The embroidered needlepoint is in good condition with only very minor fraying to the corners.
